Julian Assange Being taken away by the police

Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange has been arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

The 47-year-old Ecuadorian-Australian national was initially taken to a central London police station after his arrest before appearing in court. He was found guilty of failing to surrender to the court.

He faces US federal conspiracy charges related to one of the largest ever leaks of government secrets and up to five years in US prison if convicted on the charges of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion.

Assange has taken refuge at the embassy since 2012.

The UK will decide whether to extradite Assange, in response to allegations by the Department for Justice that he conspired with former US intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to download classified databases.

Pedestrian Bridge Collapses In Yaba Lagos [PHOTOS]

A section of the pedestrian bridge in Yaba area of Lagos collapsed on Saturday.

According to The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), no casualty was recorded.

“An empty truck with registration number AAA 364 XS crashed onto the pedestrian bridge at the bus stop as a result of brake failure, thereby damaging the bridge railings. “ However, no loss of life nor injury was sustained at the scene,” the LASEMA boss said.

Entrance to the pedestrian bridge had been closed for public use.

US Begins Immigration Raid Across Different Cities

According to report, the Trump administration will begin arrests of undocumented immigrants from tomorrow Sunday.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid is expected to affect two New York Neighborhoods amongst other cities. ICE agents were said to have been turned away in Harlem section of Manhattan and Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood on Saturday because they lack warrant.

Trump had said the raids would focus on criminals, saying agents would “take criminals out, put them in prison, or put in them in prison in the countries they came from.”

According to ICE, that the agency won’t offer specific details related to enforcement operations. “As always, ICE prioritizes the arrest and removal of unlawfully present aliens who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security.

Many activists condemned this action and have staged protests across different cities.
