Mosque Attack: 49 Dead, More Than 40 Injured As Man Opens Fire On Two Mosques in New Zealand

A total of 49 people have been killed in a mosque shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, Over 40 injured with 20 in critical condition.

The attacker targeted the Al Noor Mosque in the center of the city and Linwood Mosque, about three miles away

The shooter under the name Brenton Tarrant live streamed video of the attack and posted a manifesto online. He is 28 years old. Just before the attack, an account believed to belong to the gunman posted a link to an 87-page white nationalist manifesto online. The unsigned manifesto is filled with anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiments, as well as explanations for an attack.

In the manifesto, he identifies himself as a white man, born in Australia, and lists the white nationalists who have inspired him.

Church Robbery: Police Demands Bribe Before Action Also Threatens Church

A church in Ogba area of Lagos was allegedly robbed during a vigil service by three men. Two escaped while one was apprehended.

The robber was then taken to the police station but upon getting there, the police officers demanded down payment of N20,000 before the case could be attended to. The parishioner left refusing to pay the bribe to the police officers.  But the next day, three officers visited the church threatened to return the thief and even arrested the parishioner for not giving them the bribe of N20,000 demanded. Ex-Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu Sentenced To 12 Years Imprisonment

Former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by the  federal high court in Lagos after being found guilty on all 39-count charged against him.

Kalu, 59, was convicted of fraud of N7.65billion when he was governor of the state between 1999 and 2007.

Also, the court has ordered the forfeiture of all assets of his company, SLOK to the federal government.

Free Train Ride From Lagos to Ibadan

The Federal Government of Nigeria had just announced the commencement of train services from Lagos to Ibadan. And guess what? it’s FREE from now till March 2020.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi via his Twitter handle

He added that the take-off point will be Iju train station in Lagos.

The government was said to have spent $1.5b on this project.

But many Nigerians took to Twitter to express their concerns. While some lauds the project, many express their opinion on maintenance of the project and the already existing ones.
