HIV CURE: London Patient Might Be The Second To Be Cured of HIV

Timothy Ray Brown, the first person to be cured of H.I.V., almost died during the treatment.

This could become one of the greatest news of all time!

This new case report comes more than 10 years after the first case, known as the “Berlin patient” was treated with stem cell transplant from donors who carried a rare genetic mutation, known as CCR5-delta 32, that made the patient resistant to HIV.

Now the London patient who is the second person has experienced sustained remission from HIV-1 after been treated with the stem cell transplant, known as CCR5-delta 32.

“The hope is that this will eventually lead to a safe, cost-effective and easy strategy to achieve these results using gene technology or antibody techniques.” says Anton Pozniak, the president of the International Aids Society

Over 37 million people are living with HIV globally,  Almost 1 million people die annually from HIV-related causes. Treatment for HIV involves medications that suppress the virus, known as antiretroviral therapy, which people with HIV need to take for their entire lives.

Robert Mugabe Dead At 95

Zimbabwe former president, Robert Mugabe has died, aged 95.

The ex-president who died on Friday September 6th was an independence hero who ruled for 37 years.  Mugabe had been receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April. He was ousted in a military coup in 2017.

He was born on 21 February 1924 in what was then Rhodesia – a British colony, run by its white minority. After criticizing the government of Rhodesia in 1964 he was imprisoned for more than a decade without trial.

In 1973, while still in prison, he was chosen as president of the Zimbabwe African National Union (Zanu), of which he was a founding member.

Former Governor Escapes Kidnap

Ibrahim Dankwambo, Former governor of Gombe State narrowly escaped being kidnapped on Tuesday evening by armed bandits along Abuja-Kaduna Highway, Kaduna State.

According to aide to the former governor, “On our way to Abuja with my Boss, His E Excellency, Dankwambo. kidnappers blocked the Abuja Kaduna road at 4.35pm today Tuesday but our policemen chased them away and we found out that they went away with about 7 people,” an aide to Dankwambo, who pleaded anonymity told The Guardian (more…)

US Embassy Increases Nigerian Visa Fee Application, Blames Nigerian Government

In a statement by The United States Embassy in Nigeria says effective from Thursday, August 29, 2019, Nigerians applying for tourism, student and business visas will not only pay the N59, 200 fee but will have to pay an extra $110 (N40, 700) after the visa has been issued to them bringing the total cost to N99, 900.

Applicants seeking the L1 Visa (work permit) will pay an extra N112, 100 if given visas while those applying for H4 Visa (dependency/spousal) will pay an extra N66, 600.

The US Embassy adopts the rate of N370/$1 for Nigerians which is higher than both the official rate and the black market rate.

This move is a retaliation to  Nigeria’s visa fee application to US citizens.
